A former champion in Stockholm, one of the tour’s most popular players, and a worldwide fan favorite. Now, Grigor Dimitrov has chosen to make his long-awaited return to the ATP Tour at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open – back at the venue where he once lifted the trophy.

For many years, Dimitrov has been one of the most admired and respected players on the ATP Tour. With his elegant playing style, versatile game, and charismatic presence, the Bulgarian has won the hearts of fans around the world. He has delivered several unforgettable moments throughout his career, including his victory at the 2017 ATP Finals and his nine ATP titles overall, highlighted by his very first ATP title in Stockholm in 2013.

The year 2025, however, took a dramatic turn when Dimitrov was forced to retire in the fourth round at Wimbledon due to injury, despite leading 2–0 in sets against eventual champion Jannik Sinner. A bitter setback – but also proof that Dimitrov remains among the world’s elite when fully fit.

Now he is ready to return to the tour, and Stockholm was the chosen stage. Dimitrov’s comeback at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open, where he has fond memories and a loyal fan base, is one of the highlights of the autumn calendar.

For the audience at the Royal Tennis Hall, it is a chance to witness a player who combines star power, seasoned experience, and a playing style often described as one of the most entertaining in modern tennis. Grigor Dimitrov’s return makes this year’s tournament something truly special. Last year he reached the final in Stockholm – can he take it one step further this year?
