After a series of narrow home turf defeats, a Swedish victory finally came on the center court at the Royal Tennis Hall on Wednesday, as André Göransson and Sem Verbeek from the Netherlands advanced to the quarterfinals of the double’s tournament at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open.

André Göransson was on fire at the net in the winning match against Rafael Matos and former world number one Marcelo Melo. Göransson/Verbeek won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, and will next face the reigning Wimbledon champions Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten.

 - I've been a bit sick, so I didn't have much energy today. The game was still good, and it might have allowed me to play in a more relaxed manner. The next match is on Friday, and I'm glad to get the extra rest day. It will obviously be a tough match, but we both know each other well and know what to expect," commented the 30-year-old from Skåne.

The lone Swedish victory was much anticipated after yesterday's barrage of home losses. Elias Ymer was incredibly close to causing an upset against the fifth-seeded Nicolas Jarry in front of a packed crowd. Despite the massive support and a lead with a set and break, the Chilean managed to escape with a victory.

Jarry also saved a match point in the tiebreak of the decisive set, winning 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) with a backhand volley right at the net's edge. The big server from Santiago was very close to touching Ymer's side of the court with his racket before the ball had bounced twice in that crucial moment.

Leo Borg also put up strong resistance against the tricky Alexandre Müller. The 27-year-old Frenchman barely escaped in the second set and ultimately won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Müller now faces the toughest possible opponent in the form of the top-seeded world number seven, Andrey Rublev.
