Alexander Erler (Austria), and Robert Galloway (USA) won the doubles final at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open. In the final, they defeated Vasil Kirkov (USA) and Bart Stevens (Netherlands) with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Erler and Galloway teamed up for the first time in July, and their best result prior to today’s final was a semifinal appearance in Tokyo. At the Royal Tennis Hall, they delivered an impressive week beating the tournament's top-seeds en route to their success. On Sunday, after securing the first set, Erler and Galloway began the second set by immediately breaking Kirkov’s serve. A second break on Stevens’ serve gave them a 3-0 lead and a firm grip on the trophy.
When Robert Galloway then held serve to love, things looked increasingly bleak for Kirkov and Stevens. In the end, the Dutch-American pair had to concede defeat as Galloway sealed the match with a powerful serve, clinching the title 6-3, 6-2. For their final win in the Royal Tennis Hall, Erler and Galloway continued their clinical winning streak, and captured the BNP Paribas Nordic Open without dropping a single set.
