The singles draw for the BNP Paribas Nordic Open is set – and it immediately features an all-Swedish clash.
Brothers Elias and Mikael Ymer, both granted wildcards, will face each other in the first round, while Leo Borg has been drawn against Austria’s Sebastian Ofner, ranked 138 in the world.

The Ymer showdown is expected to be an early crowd favorite. The winner will face either Tallon Griekspoor (ranked 31) or Jacob Fearnley from the UK (ranked 80) in the next round.

Leo Borg, also a wildcard recipient, faces a tough challenge right away against the in-form Ofner – Austria’s second-highest ranked player.

The top four seeds receive byes in the first round. At the top is Denmark’s Holger Rune (world No. 11), closely followed by Norway’s Casper Ruud, Denis Shapovalov (ranked 24), and France’s Ugo Humbert (ranked 31).

A potential Norwegian matchup looms in the second round – if Nicolai Budkov Kjaer (ranked 149) defeats veteran Marin Cilic (ranked 94), we could see two Norwegians on the court at the Royal Tennis Hall.

Qualifying kicked off on Sunday

This year’s BNP Paribas Nordic Open began on Saturday with the qualifying rounds. Two Swedes were in the spotlight: Nikola Slavic and William Rejchtman Vinciguerra. Both drew tough opponents – the top and second seeds in the qualifiers.

Slavic was the first Swede in action but was defeated by American Ethan Quinn 6–3, 6–2 after just over an hour of play. Rejchtman Vinciguerra sparked hopes for a Swedish upset when he won the first set against top-100 ranked Austrian Filip Misolic in a tiebreak. However, Misolic came back in the next two sets, though the young Swede pushed him to three tight sets: 6–7, 6–4, 6–4.

The final round of qualifying takes place on Sunday, with four qualification spots up for grabs in the main draw, which begins on Monday.
