Do you want to be a part of the BNP Paribas Nordic Open 2024 team? We need you!

Nordic Open, previously known as the Stockholm Open, has been voted by players multiple times as the best ATP 250 tournament. We are very proud of these awards and strive to continue offering both players and the audience a world-class experience.

To deliver a sustainable, high-quality tennis tournament, we need dedicated individuals who share our passion for the sport and who want to work as volunteers in various roles during the tournament. On the following pages, you can read more about our different groups of volunteers. Everyone is welcome to register their interest.

What does it mean to be a volunteer?

We need cheerful and committed team players who want to help take care of players, the audience, media, and sponsors in the best possible way during the BNP Paribas Nordic Open! Within the tournament's large organization, there are various areas of work that you can read more about below. The requirement to be accepted as a volunteer is that you work at least five shifts on five different days.

As a thank you for your effort

Besides being a part of our team and gaining the experience of working with a major annual ATP tournament, which can be a merit on your CV, as a volunteer you will receive:

  • Functional volunteer clothing (pants, polo shirt, and sweater) from this year's clothing sponsor.
  • Accreditation that gives you entry to the arena on all days during the tournament.
  • Good and healthy food during your shifts.
  • Access to the relaxation area with the possibility to have a coffee break for most of the day.
  • 2 free match tickets to Family Day on Sunday, October 16, when the qualifying finals and possibly the first main round will be played.

Groups of Volunteers

Accreditation

In the accreditation office, all necessary accesses for involved parties (players, coaches, volunteers, journalists, sponsors, and others) are handled. The main task in this group is to accredit those who meet the requirements and ensure that no unauthorized persons gain access to the wrong areas. You are often the first contact with the tournament for many important visitors, so qualities such as a service-minded attitude, joy, and accuracy are important. You should be 18 years or older. If you like meeting individuals within the large "tennis family" as well as some of the world's best players, there is probably no better place to be.

Arena Host

Are you service-minded and enjoy meeting tennis enthusiasts? Our approximately 90 arena hosts have one of the most important tasks during the tournament. You will help our visitors find their seats, answer questions about the cloakroom or restrooms, and where they can eat. You also ensure that no one enters the stands during play and that each visitor feels welcome and taken care of. As an arena host, you will be around the match courts, which means you can watch a lot of tennis during the week while you work. You should be 16 years or older.

Court Management

This role suits those with a good understanding of how a tennis competition works, preferably with experience in competition management, good language skills, strong leadership qualities, and a sense of order. If a player needs something during a match, the chief umpire contacts the court management to resolve the situation. Another task is to ensure that the locker rooms are always clean and fresh and to escort players to and from matches. Thus, you will have a lot of contact with the tournament's players. As the week progresses, the workload decreases, and you should be prepared to assist your colleagues in other functions. You should be at least 18 years old.

Ticket Office

Do you like people and are good at organization? At the ticket office, located at the arena's public entrance, our ticket volunteers have a lot of contact with visitors. You will sell tickets to the competition and answer various ticket-related questions. The work can be intense before the big matches, so this role suits those who can handle stress and are well-organized. You should be 18 years or older.

Chauffeur

The drivers transport players, ATP staff, sponsors, and other guests to and from the Royal Tennis Hall. As a driver, you are often the first representative of the tournament that the player meets. You should be service-oriented, social, and have good local knowledge of Stockholm. The requirements are that you have had a B driving license for at least three years, be between 22 and 70 years old, and have good English skills (additional language skills are a plus). If you are considered for this group, our transport manager will contact you, and you may need to supplement your application with one or more references.

Media Center

Are you studying media and/or communication or perhaps working in the field? In the media center, you will work both as a host for journalists visiting the competition and help manage the tournament's own communication via the website and social media.

The tasks include announcing and participating in press conferences, publishing articles, interviews, match reports, video clips, updating the photo gallery, etc. You need to work quickly and efficiently under sometimes stressful periods. The week in the media center starts fairly calmly but increases in intensity towards the final weekend.

Players Service

The Players' Lounge is a designated area where players stay while at the arena between matches and training. Here, players can eat, prepare for matches, and relax. The Players' Lounge manages training courts, laundry, or restaurant reservations. The position in the Players' Lounge is primarily about providing players and their coaches with a pleasant stay at the arena with world-class service. The Players' Lounge is open from early morning until the last match is finished.

We prefer you to be at least 21 years old and have experience in working with service. It is a big advantage if you have previously worked at the Nordic Open or Swedish Open. The position requires that you are stress-resistant and capable. You will sometimes find yourself in stressful situations where it is required to stay calm and act accordingly with a high level of service. Good English skills are a must. It is also a great advantage if you speak other languages.

Public Entrance

At the public entrance, you are responsible for scanning visitors' tickets and checking accreditations. This is an important role to ensure that the right people enter the arena. Since you are the first person most visitors meet, it is important that you are accurate and service-oriented.

VIP Welcome Service

Are you social, flexible, and enjoy meeting new people? Working at the VIP desk is perfect for those who enjoy working with service. The workplace is located at the public entrance and is the hub of the sponsors' own VIP area in the entrance area. Here, you assist the tournament's sponsors and VIP guests with collecting tickets, booking transport, and arranging evening events. The VIP desk is relatively quiet at the beginning of the week, but it becomes very busy from Wednesday onwards. If you are flexible, social, service-minded, and 20 years or older, the VIP Welcome Service might be for you.
