The American star Tommy Paul is returning to the Royal Tennis Hall and the BNP Paribas Nordic Open. Ranked 14th, Paul had his breakthrough when he won his first ATP tournament in Stockholm in 2021.

"It feels fantastic to come back to Stockholm, which holds a special place in my heart. I have such fond memories of the Royal Tennis Hall and my first tournament victory," commented Tommy Paul.

Paul has had a strong year, and with a sharp finish, there is a chance for him to reach the prestigious ATP Finals in Turin in mid-November. The 27-year-old from New Jersey has impressed on all surfaces this season. Paul has won ATP tournaments indoors in Dallas and on the classic grass at Queen’s. Other achievements include quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the Olympics. On the clay in Paris, Paul also won an Olympic bronze medal in doubles, alongside US Open finalist Taylor Fritz.

"We are very happy to once again welcome Tommy Paul to the BNP Paribas Nordic Open. He won his first ATP title here in Stockholm, and with two more titles this year, he has proven his class. His successes, including an impressive Round of 16 finish at the US Open, show that he is in top form, and we look forward to seeing him fight for the title again," says Rasmus Hult, CEO of the BNP Paribas Nordic Open organizers.

Paul captivated the audience when he won in Stockholm in 2021. The quick-footed American defeated tennis stars such as Leo Borg, Taylor Fritz, Andy Murray, Frances Tiafoe, and Denis Shapovalov. The three-time champion Thomas Enqvist has nothing but admiration for Paul.

- "It is incredibly exciting to once again present Tommy Paul to our wonderful audience. Tommy has had an amazing season and is closing in on the top 10. With his incredible footwork and versatile game, he is one of the most entertaining top players," explains Thomas Enqvist, Tournament Director for the BNP Paribas Nordic Open.

The lineup for this year’s ATP tournament will be finalized in mid-September. World number 8, Casper Ruud, three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, and Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini have already confirmed their participation in the Royal Tennis Hall. The 55th edition of the BNP Paribas Nordic Open will take place from October 12-20.
